Hi; A group of senior citizens gather each Friday at Falls Church bowling
lanes. We meet at 12:15 pm, and bowl 3 games for five dollars. Shoes are
free for the asking. If we have enough people, we bowl for $4.20. The management
isn't very friendly; but we have fun anyway. Last week the manager said we
needed 6 people to get this rate. This week she said we will need 10. We
are taking a break for the holidays and will resume bowling after the new
year. These lanes are not going to be around very long, so we welcome any
senior citizens to come out and a fun afternoon of bowling. We do not compete
against each other, only against ourselves. Come on out and bring your friends.
Help spread the word. Thanks, Jim Jim Viel helenviel@peoplepc.com

Lori, I took 8 kids, we had had 2 lanes. Split them up into two teams and
I the kept score for all of them. The hardest part is that they all kept
jumping onto the lane while the others were bowling. I must have said "Get
off the lanes while others are bowling", or "One at a time!" over 100 times.
LOL They had a blast. Have you seen the new Duckpin Bowling Message Board?

Robin, about the duckpins party, the 13 kids just bowled & bowled for
an hour. Each kid had their 3 turns, resent the pins & got to the back
of the line. AMF CP gave us 4 lanes & didn't care that we were'nt keeping
score. This way the kids didn't get too bored waiting & could bowl to
their heart's content. I plan to hold another duckpin party for my daughter
in another 2 years (she asked for a roller skating party in Rockville for
next year) P.S. How did the party food work out at White Oak? AMF CP delivered
3 pizzas promptly. There is no party room, but that's OK.

Last weekend I held my daughter's 6th birthday party at AMF College Park
lanes. 13 kids total & I think they had a great time - some had never
done duckpins before. AMF CP offered 1 hour of bumper bowling, shoe rentals,
pizza & sodas, the birthday girl got a bowling pin (tenpin size tho)
suitable for signing. I thought the package was a good bargain. Check the
closest duckpin alleys to you - most will have a great birthday party
package.

Nice web site. I used to bowl ducks for many years but family, job and other
activites took up my time. I'm always planning on returning some day. I hope
there are some alleys left when that day finally arrives. I agree with your
comments about it being a great sport...or game...for those hard core Xgame
folks that will question the "sport" of it. Anyway, it's great fun, you make
good friends, and if you bowl long enough and hit enough tournaments, you'll
end up with a bundle of funny stories. Does anyone know if Capeway Lanes
are still open in Taunton/Raynham area. You want a challenge...go to that
rock house. Happy trails everyone.

WASSUP DUCKPINNERS! I am on a 10-pin bowling league for youths, which I enjoy
very much. My family and I were looking for an alley one day, and we found
a duckpin alley, which dissapointed us until we tried it. It was a welcome
change to those heavy balls, and is probably the only non-virtual sport I
beat my dad at, even thought it was only by one!

Robin: Has anyone contacted AMF about resupplying duckpin equipment or purchasing
the patents for duckpin machine manufacture? It seems with the number of
alleys still operating, there is a built up demand for new parts and machinery.
With good marketing, a considerable demand for new establishments could be
developed. Has anyone approached AMF with this concept? Has the Duckpin
Association ever attempted it (logic tells me that they probably have). Has
there been any thought to organizing a letter writing campaign targeting
AMF and demanding that the sport be supported? I'd be interested in hearing
from you or anyone who has been involved in any action with AMF or attempted
to instigate a grass-roots effort to build the sport.

great website ! it's nice to see duckpin bowling is continuing to grow globally.
my native country, the Philippines, has many duckpin bowling fanatics. we
also produced world class bowlers did very well in the then-active IBA
(international bowling association) 1st and second World Cup Tournaments
participated by several countries including USA, Canada, Argentina, and The
Philippines. I used to participate in the many National Tournaments in Manila
and all over my country but unfortunately, I am not able to find a Duckpin
Bowling Center where I reside. Duckpin Bowling is a sport that requires good
skills, accuracy, discipline, and practice but I guess it has been underrated
and so therefore, we hear more of the Tenpin game. I'd like to acknowledge
the best filipino duckpin bowlers in the late 70's and 80's who did our country
proud like Lita de la Rosa (RIP), Eddie Bourbon (RIP), Jun Matalote, Aleli
Sindo, Obet Raquel, and many others. I don't know if PHIDBC is still active
but one thing for sure, it has brought me and my parents many memorable moments
and gave us the opportunity to compete with thousands of bowling fanatics.
My Dad wants to say hello also to a good friend, Judge Dan Sindo, one time
IBA President and PHIDBC founder. My Dad ,migrated to the states can't play
now but he had fond memories of the sport in our homeland. MORE POWER TO

Hello everyone! Robin, great website. Let me say that I feel like too many
bowlers who are active in this great game, knowing and thinking constantly
that this game is losing its stride. Like so many of you out there, I wish
there was a way to prevent this situation. I live only 3 miles from a 30-lane
center which is located in Westport, MA. What I wouldn't give to own that
place and run it with one thing in mind.....the promotion of Duckpin bowling.
It is not a question of bowling centers closing down, it is a question of
these centers being taken over by people who care about duckpins and the
betterment of the game. For now, we survive, but the future is something
we all have to strive to protect in this, the greatest of all bowling games.
Thanx, Ron P.

trying to get some more young blood in the leagues. We're having a great

I am a big fan of duckpins. I quit bowling 10 pins as a protest to my former
bowling center proprietor who didn't live up to his promise when he announced
that after the remodel of his center he was going to install 8 lanes of ducks.
When he didn't follow through, I retired officially from 10 pins. Now I sit
at home and hope and pray that someone will open up a duckpin center. Used
to have relatives in Maryland and thats how I got interested in the game.

What about Rubberband Duckpin Bowling? Cannot find any sites ,has the sport
vanished? My dad was a big time bowlerin the 60's in southwestern PA. Moving
to Canada in the 70's he bowled pro and had his own 24 lane house. I'll provide
some of his stats in the future. For now would love to find a complete set
of rubber ducks but will really settle for just one, as a memorial to go

IN 1988 WHEN I LEFT CT, TO MOVE TO FLORIDA. WAS ON THE PRO TOUR FOR ONLY
ONE YEAR, BUT DIDN'T MAKE ANY MONEY THOU. ALMOST QUALIFIED ONCE. IT WAS A
LOT OF FUN. GOD BLESS ALL YOU DUCKPIN BOWLERS AND SOMEONE OPEN ONE UP DOWN
HERE. I WOULD BE EVEN INTERESTED IN INVESTING WITH SOMEONE TO GET ONE STARTED
DOWN HERE, TAKE CARE AND HIT-EM BIG.

Anybody know of any lanes in Florida? I loved to play in CT, but nobody down
here even knows what I'm talking about when I say duckpin. Such a tourist
destination should have this game!

Awesome site. I am so glad I found it. Duckpin bowling is my all time favorite
sport! I have been playing it since I was born!

I'm glad to see a site for this. The lanes in Mount Airy are great! Leagues
galore. I need to know where I can order duck pin bowling balls from the
internet.We love it.
