What a great feeling to somehow be connected to all these wonderful bakers across N.America. Between 12 and 14 friends in our small rural community have been having a slice/cookie exchange for four years now. We love the preparation, the stories, the closeness and of course, the recipes and food! Our husbands and partners have now learned what they recieve out of this event and encourage our evening out! Thank-you to all the beautful women who shared their stories and styles of their Christmas kick-off! Glenda Danbrook Avid cookie lover/baker

My husband and I just moved here from Ga. and I am thinking of hosting a cookie exchange party for the ladies on our street so that I might get to know all of them. There would be about 12 ladies in all. I really had not planned to do a lunch, but maybe just finger sandwiches and a dessert, as some of these ladies I have not even met yet. What do you think? Advise appreciated! Thanks, Kay

Austin, Tx USA - Monday, November 26, 2001 at 21:28:55 (EST)Suggestion:My daughter and I make our own 'containers' by purchasing round cake trays, placing a doilly on top and covering it with saran wrap. We than make cellophane bags for each tray by ironing the celophane to the size bag we need. Each guest leaves with a professional looking bakery tray. Don't forget to tie each bag closed with some beautiful curly Christmas ribbon!

Sickllerville, NJ USA - Friday, November 23, 2001 at 22:01:20 (EST)Hi There, I am hosting a Cookie Exchange at work for the second year. It is quite fun and it gets alot of people in the Christmas spirit. There will be 14 attending so we will all bake 7 dozen cookies and each person wraps their cookies in half dozens. Since it is at work and we don't have much time we each take a package from everyone and we leave with 14 different types of cookies. We will bring in extras for "taste test" also :) It is great fun :) I enjoyed your website :)
