My sisters and I started the cookie exchange about 5 years ago, as my neices grew up and started families of their own, and my nephews got married the exchange grew. We are up to 26 half dozens. (could you imagine making 26 dozen cookies). But last year the men were jealous and decided to start their own exchange, only they exchanged minitures. It worked out great, it turned out to be a pre-Christmas party. Which turned out nice because no one had to hurry to get to Christmas Mass, or plays. We are a very close family and get together all the time. Even when we make tamales, it turns out to be a family event.

Thanks to your help, this will be my third cookie swap and is now a tradition. Last year we even had a visit from Santa! I ask the ladies to bring one dozen or more cookies which we then deliver to a charity with their permission. Last year it was a woman's shelter and I hope to have enough to bring to a local rest home too. I also refer back to your site for a refresher. Thanks for the inspiration! Have a wonderful holiday.

A group of coworkers and I do a cookie exchange.we took turns be hostesses. we used to go to each others houses but last year got together in a private room at a resteraunt, it was a lot easier. also the hostess buys several gifts , wraps them and we have an auction, then the money is donated to a local charity or church to buy gifts for kids.

So glad I found your site. This year I'm hosting my second annual cookie swap and I plan to make it a yearly tradition. For my invitations this year I printed out the invite on regular 8 1/2 x 11 paper and then used my Christmas stamps to jazz up the paper. I rolled up the invitation like a diploma. I then affixed a little bag of fake flour (1 x 2") and a real small rolling pin (probably 1 inch long)along with a ribbon to the invitation. I purchased these little miniatures a local craft store and they are so cute. I also purchased tiny tin gingerbread men and other various miniatures related to baking. I plan to hand deliver the invitations or just pop them in the mailbox. My theory is, the invitation makes the first impression and so we'll see what happens. Happy baking!!
