I have been hosting Cookie Exchanges for a few years now and all my friends/family look forward to it every year. I happened upon your website yesterday and am enjoying all the "cookie talk". I read your rules and am happy to say that I've "done it right" and, surprisingly, have many of the same rules. I will incorporate your suggestions and have enjoyed your charming website.

Dear Robin: Up until recently, I have attended the most wonderful cookie exchanges hosted by a good friend, Maria. She has since moved and I am sure some ladies in Virginia are now enjoying her talents. I myself have recently moved to North Central Florida and would like to host a cookie exchange. I really have not met alot of people and we all live far apart, rural area's, but I am going to try. Your web page is really helping. Happy Holidays, Happy Baking!

Judy Ledger, one of my most dearest friends, invited me to my first cookie exchange at her house approx four years ago. She initially told me she was thinking of having a cookie exchange what did I think? I immediately got involved in assisting her and she has had a cookie exchange every year since. She also invites my grandaughter who is now nine and every year looks forward to the cookie exchange. She bakes her own cookies to bring to the exchange (with my assistance of course). She usually make one BIG cookie for each person attending. We truly enjoy getting together with the ladies once a year. Thank Ms Judy for including me, my daughter and grandaughter is the wonderful yearly event.

Our American Cancer Society Relay for Life committee hosted a cookie exchange last year that was such a huge success that we decided to make it into a fund raising cookie walk this year. Do you know where I can get guidelines to outline rules for this daunting task ? Do we charge by the pound ? By the container ? etc Thanks !

I must say I am delighted to have found your web site. I started a cooking club that meet once a month and no one wanted to host the December meeting. I thought what would be better than a cookie exchange for December. I didn't (until I found you web site) know how to go about hosting a cookie exchange. Now I have plenty of information and guidelines to follow to start my own tradition. Thank you. Patty Avanzato

Robin - this is great! Just what i was looking for but i had no idea! A freind about 5-6 years ago had one in her neighborhood and although i didn't go it sounded like a great idea. I was just put on our HOA board in my neighborhood and want to start doing things for the neighbors to get to know each other better so this will be our first this year- we shall see how it goes! i think i will try to make sort of an open house one afternoon so people can just come and go when they have some spare time - not really sure yet but if you have any suggestions i would love to hear them and i will surely let you know how it goes in December! Thanks for this very informative website!

I hosted my first cookie exchange on Saturday. It was a champagne brunch with 10 ladies attending and it was great! My mom made the quiches, and I did cheesy potatoes, all the muffins and quickbreads, and of course the punch. We also had hot cider and coffee. I made my own invitations thanks to my scrapbooking hobby (every one was different) and played the left/right game for the gift exchange. Your site really helped me be a successful hostess. Thanks Robin!

Hi Robin, I enjoyed reading your site. I searched for "christmas cookies" as I am going to a cookie swap/candle party tonight of which I am the candle consultant but am joining in on the fun. The party I'm going to isn't nearly as organized as yours are and I would love to share some of your ideas with future hostesses of mine who enjoy theme parties to go along with my candle show to help them be as organized and fun as yours. I hope your house turns out great - my fiance and I just moved into our in May 2005 and I'm enjoying decorating for the holidays for the first time!
