I remember a snack called Pizza Wheels. They were my favorite back when I was a kid. Also I was a big fan of Root Beer Fizzies. If anyone know where I can get either of these past favorites I would appreciate knowing so. Other memories: P.F. Flyers sneakers, Captain Action and G.I. Joes, Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, my entire 1970 Topps baseball card collection (that Mom threw out!), comic books (thanks again, Mom!), plastic model kits, Quisp and Quake cereals - I miss those days.

Does anyone remember a doll from the late 60's early 70's that had a lever in the back of the neck so that you could change the face from a sad face to a happy one, to one crying? It was in a pink sleeper type suit. If you took off the hat it looked like a white plastic helmet. How about the thumbelina dolls that you could wind up and they moved?

I remember Winky Dink. He was the 50's version of Blue's Clues. My mom sent off for the green plastic mat that stuck to the screen so we could draw over the lines that came up during the story. Winky Dink and Me, Winky Dink and You... I can hear the music and singing now.

Just wondering if anyone remembers the character "Ringo the Chicken." This was a running theme among some of the DJs at WLS in Chicago, about the time the Beatles first came to the US.

I've been here before and back again to read what i might have forgotten about. i remember those great cracker jack's commercials and the post cereal cartoons prior to the characters being on the box, the sugar bear, the postman(alphabits), etc. there were also soft plastic "logs" that you could get with a "knife" and you whittled until you got to a hard plastic toy inside, around the time of the mr. bubbles bubble bath commercials. if this site is still around when i'm an old man, i'll still come here to go thru my second childhood.

Looking for a source for the old porch gliders... the three cushion kind, NOT made of wood, and NOT with the large, flat, bent-metal arms, but the shiny, rolled steel arms and base. They must be out there somewhere. They were SO cool!! Please answer soon! Summertime is HERE! Thanks

Do you remember making chains out of gum wrappers? I never chewed so much gum in my life as I did then just to get the wrappers. I used to have other people saving them for me. I think they were called love chains. And what about gimp (not sure of the spelling). It was a plastic string thing that you could weave. Thet used to give it ot at summer playground programs and camps

I remember the Vincent Price (Milton Bradley Crafts) Shrunken Head Apple kit. It was an extraordinary toy...had fantastic box art of Vincent Price, the master of horror himself, holding up a few grisly wrinkled apple creations he made with a ordinary McIntosh Apple. They were great for Halloween and not one was ever alike...You could put beads in their mouths for teeth and crepe hair to add a nice witch appearance! You can still get these kits on Ebay for about $20, but obviously, for those who had a kit, you don't really need one to make your own apple head dolls. This was a great memory and I still use my old kit with my kids during Halloween!!! If anyone else has some great childhood memories of this toy or the Mattel Herman Munster puppet or doll, please email me at: mattel@locl.net

I was born in 1952 and am a true Boomer! My first memories center around watching "Disneyland," "Shirley Temple Theater," "Ding Dong School," "Romper Room" and "Captain Kangaroo!" I also distinctly remember watching "The Mickey Mouse Club," original version...this had to be around 1957 or so. The first toys I had were a "Tramp" handpuppet (from "Lady and the Tramp") and a Minnie Mouse handpuppet--and I bit her nose off! Later, in the 60's, I found myself awash in the greatest toys of the 20th Century: Aurora monsters; PlayDoh; Mattel's Fright Factory; the Kabala game; the original "Mousetrap" game; gum cards like "Spook Stories," "Monster Midgees" and all that Batman and Dark Shadows cards; Fuzzy Wuzzy soap, Soakies; Pez (Casper and The Creature from the Black Lagoon!); talking Mattel toys; View-Master, Vacuform; Mr. Machine, and so much more. Every Christmas was memorable. I received two great big hardcover books by Alfred Hitchcock that I still Have: "Haunted Houseful" and "Monster Museum." I also still have a Whitman book of 365 Bedtime stories, by Nan Gilbert. Classic stuff about "What a Jolly Street!" Anybody remember that one? I loved Little Lulu--especially the Halloween editions of her comics--and I'm actively trying to find back issues. I can still see myself watching the first episode of "Johnny Quest," when it aired in the fall of 1963. That was also the season for "The Outer Limits," still my favorite television show. And who could forget Batman, The Munsters, The Addams Family, etc.? Oh, I could go on and on and on. Over the years, I lost most of my toys...but thanks to the wonders of eBay, I've been able to find many, and in mint condition, too! Here's a brain teaser: my sister and I had two plastic birds that were quite popular circa 1965. They were basically plastic pigeons, with a plume feather on the head, and feet that was actually a wheel studded with small suction cups. When you pulled the string, the bird would walk up the wall. Does anyone remember it's name? Thanks - you have an awesome site! Rod

I am looking to find a penny candy that had the consistency of frosting and came in a metal fluted tin . You needed a tiny metal spoon to eat it with which was given to you when you bought the candy. Does anyone know the name of this candy or the flavors in which it came in?

I was born in 1949 and have recently been reminded of a dry shampoo that came out in the 50's or early 60's. My sisters and I all had long hair and our mother believed that you could not wash your hair as often as we wanted to. This product was similar to powder, in fact we tended to use baby powder if we ran out of the product. You sprinkled it on your hair and brushed it out and your hair was "washed"!! Now none of us can remember the name of it. Does anyone out there remember the name of this product. I don't want to buy it, just want to remember the name!! Thanks in advance if you can help me.

I had forgotten so many things about growing up in the 60's till I came across this site. I was born in 1957, it was a great childhood. Some of the things I remember are Turkish Taffy (what made it "Turkish" I don't know), Ithink it was made by Bonamo or something like it. Creepy Crawlers, Palisades Amusement Park commercials, Cousin Brucie on WABC, Bertrands Island Amusement park in Lake Hopatcong. Rockem-Sockem robots, Bosco song (just the tune, anyone know the words?), Keds-run faster, jump higher. Booby-trap. I think I still have that someplace. Wow! I think I started a flood in my head.
