Hi all! I have been accused of being 'stuck' in the 70's ... yeah, and I'm
proud of it! I remember wanting to wear my green football jersey all the
time with my stupid neckgear (for braces)and my curly hair that was supposed
to 'feather'. Thank God I learned how to use a blowdryer in 1977 ..LOL..
we'd go to the drive-in and decide on who would hide in the trunk ... it
usually was me, since my friend would get 'scared' .... had a big crush on
Paul Le Mat after seeing Aloha, Bobby and Rose umpteen times! I was also
the 'Parker' to my friend's 'Shaun' and saw Grease and Jaws the same amount
of times, over and over ... Sunshine On My Shoulders still makes me happy,
and Neil Sedaka's music still takes me to a brighter day ...played with my
click clacks and had the bruises to prove it! I finally got my whole dream
outfit -- hat, shirt and pants all in the 'patchwork ' pattern!! Birthday
parties at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour, and roller skating at Northridge
Skateland. Why didn't the boys ask us to skate on the couples songs?? Land
of the Lost, Lidsville, Zoom and Wonderama -- oh, what a great time, wasn't
it???

To the girls of the 70's...it is now some weird year called "2004"...alot
of us have given in to the times now, you know you have a cell phone and
email...but you best keep your soul back in that decade where you belong.
It has been said you cannot go home or live in the past, but us '70's kids
manage that very objective, very well. We are unique and we know it. And
only we can revel in it...because we lived it...we were there...we ARE the
'70's. I just got back from seeing Aerosmith and KISS in concert a few weeks
ago...they still got "it", same as you and me. I play music for a living
also...yeah, I am one of those hold-outs that actually did manage to make
it and make a good living from it...I see ALOT of you '70's girls at alot
of the venues we play...I want to say RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW, you are still
the most beautiful women on the face of the earth. This new generation of
Britany Spears wannabes have nothing on you gals... Sorry if I am too graphic,
but I have a good buzz going right now, KISS is on the 8-track player (that
right...8-track player) For those of you '70's girls now in your 30's and
early '40's, you are still beautiful...I can still pick you out, individually,
in a crowd when I am on stage. You still have the looks you have ALWAYS had.
You still turn me on more than any 18-year old that has never heard Boston
play "More Than A Feeling". Your boobs are not sagging, your butts not bagging,
you still look the same to me as you did in 1977. You are BEAUTIFUL. Am I
flirting with you? Damn right...just like I did when I first kissed you on
your mom and dad's deck that Saturday afternoon in July and "Beth" was playing
on the AM radio. You wanted to hear "Afternoon Delight" and I told you that
you WERE my Afternoon Delight"...and I kissed you again. Time stood still...and
lip gloss was...wonderful... Got news for you '70's girls...that decade has
never gone away...it is just others telling us that is has. We know better.
YOU know better... My love and kisses to the most beautiful women this planet
has ever seen...the girls of the '70's. When I am on stage, sweat pouring
off me, strings breaking every third or fourth tune, I still see you there
in the front row...and it is worth it every time, every night when I am so
pumped up I don't sleep, every time I have to MAKE myself eat health food,
not smoke, and take vitamins so I can keep my energy level up to where it
turns you on to the music I am pumping out with every note. You girls are
worth it all and I love every one of you, for when you applaud and scream
for more, I am home again, kissing you on the deck of your parent's house,
back in July of '77 and you had lip gloss on... THANKYOU FOR BEING
THERE...THANKYOU //SO MUCH//!!!

sings a song "Good Morning World" and the guy ends up yodeling it? I found
the sound but not the video. I think in the video, a guy is skimming down
the street and goes through a park. Please find it for me - it was one of

were friends and the white boys parents didn't like him playing with the

Oh man, the 70's were the best of a lot of things. The music will always
be the best...now it's just a bunch of computer tracked noise. In the 70's,
the bands could actually record a song in a studio while playing it all at
the same time. Now, you do a track, do another track...etc. The best friends
I ever really had were there. My friends and I were a lot like the movie,
"Stand By Me". I grew up in southern Missouri and we really had to walk a
long way to get to each other's homes. Many other memories are there -- maybe
I'll add more later.

It's Christmas time, and I was remembering a commercial that used to air
(I have no clue what they were selling, it might even have been for postage
stamps) about some boys at an orphange. They steal a note from another boy
who is writing to Santa asking for a puppy, telling him "Even if there was
a Santa, he wouldn't bring a puppy to no kids in an orphanage." Needless
to say, the boy wakes up on Christmas morning to find a puppy under the tree.
I'd like to see it again.

Thanks for the nice trip down memories :) Time was SO much simpler... or
it seemed at the time. I remember me and my little sis pretending to be Solid
Gold Dancers... I remember sitting in front of the TV with little trays eating
Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and watching Sesame Street. ' a loaf of bread,
a containa of milk... a stick of butta....' I cant get my kids off the PC
or away from the TV these days! I remember playing kick the can, the whole
neighborhood! Ages 5-18 way past dark... knowing you were safe. Those days
me and my little sister could walk the mile to the swimming pool alone, with
out fear of abduction... popping the bubbles in the hot tar. Laying by the
pool watching the 'cool' teenagers, listening to Billy Dont Be a Hero and
The Night Chicago Died...eating Marathon bars before they melted. Back when
families sat down to supper---- together!!! One of my fave memories is whenever
threatening weather was going on, we would all gather on our front side walks
watching the clouds roll in. Or sitting out on the 'stoop' in our striped
tee shirts and bell bottoms. Watching Kotter, and Land of The Lost, All in
The Family. Sleeping with the doors unlocked and the windows open. Mac N
Cheese made with real macaroni and Velveeta! Every body rushes now. Every
one has a cell phone. Most people are angry. The 70's seems so far away and
long ago, and while there was bad things in the world, most of the memories
are good. :) Thank you!

Oh how I remember the 70s! Saturday morning shows like Sigmund and the Sea
Monsters, The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle show (I was in love with Brett!),
That robot show (cant remember name) with Ruth Buzzi and Jim Nabors, Wonder
Bug and Speed Buggy. Eating Freakies cereal or King Vitamin or Quisp. Then
going to your room to crank up your record player with Afternoon Delight
and sing your heart out! I remember the Bicentennial and how it was such
a treat to go see the fireworks or go to Great America or the fair. Playing
in the backyard when it snowed alot, making snow forts, throwing snowballs
at the neighbor kids.... Bellbottom jeans, and OH! PLatform shoes!!! Getting
those crocheted ponchos from Grandma in colors that only exist in yarn- (what
I would give to still have those). Donny and Marie (I wore purple socks only
because Donny did!) It was an innocence that the world has somehow lost over
the years. We played outside till the streetlights came on, without worrying
if we would be kidnapped (it only happened on tv back then it seemed). Skipping
school to go to the video game room, or just cruisin around lookin for cute
boys.... Dressing up in polyester cat suits with tons of makeup to go to
the roller rink with your friends. Going to a shopping mall was a big deal....
Christmas was always the best time- eating Christmas cookies, watching Rudolph
and Santa shows, getting up at 6 in the morning to see if you got what you
wanted for christmas, maybe Sea Monkeys, or a Pet Rock or a Mood Ring- I
got an 8 track and I was on top of the world! Thank you for bringing back
such wonderful memories for this over the hill 70s girl......

The lyrics Joseph is seeking above can be found at:
http://www.lyricsdepot.com/rita-coolidge/you.html coincidentally I was looking
for the same lyrics today on the internet and found this site! Great songs
from the 70's... Chicago, 3 Dog Night, Wings, Stevie Wonder, Elton John,
the Doobies, Olivia Newton John, and of course all the one hit wonders and
instrumentals like the theme from SWAT, Welcome Back Kotter... Anyone remember
The Sound of Philadelphia (TSOP) by MFSB? Great Song! I learned to roller
skate on the sidewalk with skates that had metal wheels and won the 5th grade
skate race. The next year everyone had learned to skate at the arena and
I didn't have a chance. ;) We built tree housese in the summer (3 of them),
built long tunnels through the blackberry bushes, playe baseball, basketball,
football, croquet, and rode bikes all summer long...and if it was too hot
we'd go to our friend's cool basement and play board games, ping pong, or
darts. Awesome times!!!!

to be a kid in. I remember being in love with "Vinny Barbarino" from Welcome
back kotter, used to give all my friends "Chickenshirts" or "crazy shirts"
for their Birthdays. Rollerskates with Kryptonic skateboard wheels and rainbow
bands with flashing lights that went around the boot of the skates, Posters
of Leif Garrett,Sean Cassidy and David Cassidy all over my room. Watching
the movie Carrie when it first came out and not being able to sleep for a
week! Guys with long hair and bell bottoms.. YUMMY! lol My favorite PLATFORM
shoes on the planet that every girl in town wore.. CORKEE'S (SP?) If anyone
has any pictures of these shoes or knows where to find any vintage pairs
i'd love to know.. i could kick myself that i never held on to mine!!!! Thanks

Nice site. No mention of Holmes and Yo-Yo, though! Thats ok. As much as I
enjoyed reminiscing about my past through your website, the music I used
to (and still do) listen to, the tv I watched, the friends I had (and some
I still have), and the girls i've loved and lost, thinking of my pre-teen
and teenage years sometimes only serves to remind me of all the times I think
to myself "if only I would have said this" or "if only I would have done
that". Memories of our youths often remind us that we are so mortal, and
our lives are finite. Live like the next day is your last.

What a GREAT site. Come on girls..... don't you remember fighting with your
girlfriend about what Dukes of Hazzard was your boyfriend? or how about those
big combs we kept in our back pocket to comb our "wings"..what about kissing
your poster of Peter Frampton until his lips were nothing but a big white
ring (and that was probably our first experience with french kissing!) What
about thinking you were so cool carrying your Bobby Sherman lunch box to
school and wishing every day that you could be a Solid Gold Dancer. Well
hopefully you enjoyed that little blast from the past as I reflect on what
a simple time the 70's were for me....nothing but carefree days and good
times! Keep on Truckin'

Hey kids...for those of us still in the '70's by choice, those of us that
have never left, set aside some time to reflect every chance you get about
what those years and the things you experienced meant to you. Watching my
grandmother gradually leave us by way of Alzheimer's, do yourselves a favor
and remember every sight sound, smell, person and thing that you possibly
can. Go out of your way and contact those you grew up with while you can...I
type this on the eve of the 2nd anniversary of 9/11...no wonder we all wish
we could go back in time to...home. Sure, every generation, when they get
about our ages now looks back and, with a sigh, talks about the good old
days...but us '70's kids, you cannot deny we had it best of the best. Laugh
at those funny things that happened or that you did or what someone said.
Cry when you think of your first love, when you actually got to kiss her,
and that day when you moved away, and you never saw her again... Relive it
as best you can, whenever you can...and never let go of it. As each day passes,
it will become more valuable to you. Peace and love to you all. Joe.

Ah, the 70's...what a grand time we had. The highlights are many. I was a
high school student then and spent my last 2 years as a senior. A new school
was built and there was no senior class that 1st year, so I was amongst the
coolest for 2 years running. We ruled that school..my God! 1977 was a giant
year for me cause Led Zeppelin came to the Cap Center for 6 nights, and I
was lucky enough to see them on the final night. MAJOR highlight for me.
Of course, graduation in '78 was amazing, as 4 of us went directly to Myrtle
Beach for a week and had the blast of alltime. We never relized then, the
kind of potential trouble we were in...but hey, we didn't care. memories
of speeding down 95 crankin "Life's Been Good" by Joe Walsh over and over
again..all of us singing at the top of our lungs. Renting a jeep in Myrtle
Beach and taking it off road..knocking over small trees and picnic tables
in the process, then bringing it back in ill repair...never getting in trouble
for it. Cruising around the Jack in the Box parking lot all night, every
night..with open containers and cops that would actually help you get home
if you were too hammered. Riding along with my buddy Rob in his huge Ford
station wagon listening to The Doors, (he was a fanatic), on his 8 track
player. Using my album covers to sift seeds...riding down the neighborhood
roads with Ted Nugent's "Great White Buffalo" blasting out of my cool Jensen
triaxels...hating and rejecting ANYTHING disco cause denim ruled! I could
sit here for hours and do this...this is fun, but more importantly..it causes
one to reflect on a time so carefree and simple. Those were some wonderful
times and I feel fortunate to have experiences...(as I look at the ticket
stub to my first ever concert at The Capital Center..yes, I kept them all
and so glad I did...Black Sabbath & Uriah Heep, 1975..$6.50 general
admission)
